Variety
At the local COOP store, a cooperative grocery store very common in Emilia Romagna with stores all over Italy, you can see a selection on affettati (cold cuts) and salumi…
Please count: on the bottom shelf there are 5 types of prosciutto cotto (ham) and a mortadella, on the one above there are 10 different types of prosciutto crudo, then 12 types on salame, two types of lardo, and on the top shelf way more varietals I can keep track of. I love Italy!

When I arrive in Italy, one of the first things I do is going to a Coop or similar store and buy some prosciutto crudo and ricotta. Great photo!
My husband is dreaming right now. he has to go back to Europe soon.
Frankly, I have to take your word for it… The photo you posted has such a low resolution that it’s impossible to tell what each of the salumi is.
Yes – I remember these beautiful Coop displays while visiting there in 2006. Many times I had to literally be pulled away from just starring at the window –
One interesting thing that stuck with me was Speck – I tasted that in Merano (Northen Italy, very close to the Swiss border). I was only able to find that in that region – maybe because of its German heritage?
The other thing that stuck with me was the fact that you could find a similar display at Autogrill (equivalent to Rest Stops in USA).

Oh wow. Um… I think I dream of that window.
Oh, yum. Wish I was standing in front of that right now so I could make my selection…though with all those choices I’ll need to grow a few extra stomachs.
