Welcome to Bologna

I am currently traveling to Italy to visit family before the Holidays. My gateway airport when I come visit my family is Bologna, the airport stores are aligned with its reputation- it is not called Bologna la Grassa (the fat) for nothing! La Vecchia Malga is a new addition to the stores line-up. It’s the first store you run into as you merge from arrivals at the airport, right after retrieving your luggage. I find this the perfect welcome to the capital of epicurean pleasures…

Salami and Parmigiano and Prosciutti

Giant salami, parmigiano and prosciutti!

Homemade Tortellini

Tortellini are a staple of Bologna- and these are homemade and tiny, like Venus’ belly button!

Mortadelle and prosciutti

Tiny mortadelle on the counter, and many many prosciutti hanging in the background. Is this paradise or what? Welcome to Bologna!

  1. “Is this paradise or what?” Don’t remind me!! I can barely eat at “Italian” restaurants; after visiting I am scarred for life….in the best possible way. EVERYTHING there is beyond good! WOW, I can’t wait for more of your travel posts!!!!!

  2. Oh man! Look at all those glorious goods! I would never be able to make it past all that empty handed! Thanks for sharing!
