Marcella Hazan in Oakland October 17

On Friday, October 17th, Marcella Hazan will be at the Pasta Shop in Oakland for a book signing event from 4 to 6pm. Her new book, Amarcord, is a memoir: 53 years of marriage, recipes, and her quest to bring “real” Italian food to the US. The New York Times recently wrote a lengthy article about her new book, you can read it here.

Marcella is originally from Cesenatico, my hometown. I take immense pride in knowing a Romagnola swept culinary America of the 60’s and 70’s off its feet! Amarcord is also the title of a movie by Federico Fellini, another Romagnolo, and it is dialect for “I remember”. Don’t miss Marcella in our own backyard!
