The Golden Glass, San Francisco

This upcoming Sunday June 8th Fort Mason will set the stage for the fifth annual Golden Glass. Organized as a display of Italian wine producers on its first edition, the Golden Glass is expanding this year to include wine producers from all over the world. However, it’s the Italian wines who are taking center stage, with an incredible selection of Piedmont wines. Be ready to enjoy some amazing Barolo, some stunning Barbaresco, and some delicious Dolcetto as you browse through the Festival Pavilion soaking in the experience!

Their website states:

The wines will be complemented by slow food from the Bay Area’s top restaurants and artisans. Live music, educational wine seminars, and a series of winemaker dinners round out the offerings!

In fact, Slow Food is the driving force behind this event. Renato Sardo was a founding Director of the Slow Food International Office, incubating the movement outside of Italy, and is now leading the Golden Glass organization to bring this incredible event to teh Bay Area. He’s also the curator for the upcoming Slow Food Nation’s Wine pavilion. I fully support Slow Food’s mission and values, and as a disclaimer I am also part of the team of Slow Food Nation!

What this all menas: Well, The Golden Glass will be a wine tasting event, but also a food tasting one! All my favorite Italian restaurants in the area are going to prepare snacks and appetizers for the event- I can’t wait to try what Perbacco, Fish., Quattro and La Ciccia and have in store for us! And if that wasn’t enough, local food artisans are also lined up for this event, like Caffe’ del Doge and Emporio Rulli. I think this is the closest I’m going to get to being in paradise!
